“Stephen Porges' Polyvagal Theory. Your vagus nerve decides whether you feel safe or threatened. A long exhale — longer than your inhale — activates the vagal brake and tells your body: I'm safe. It's the same mechanism used in trauma recovery.”

    The 4-8 Breath

    Inhale 4 counts through the nose. Exhale 8 counts through the mouth — like fogging a mirror. 5 cycles, ~60 seconds. Notice the drop in your shoulders. That's your nervous system changing state — on command.

    5-4-3-2-1 Grounding

    Name 5 things you see, 4 you hear, 3 you touch, 2 you smell, 1 you taste. For dissociation and overwhelm. Let your body anchor to now.

    The Voo Sound

    A long low 'voooo' on the exhale. Vibrates the vagus through the vocal cords — Porges' own recommendation. Feel the vibration in your chest and throat.

    The Physiological Sigh

    Double inhale, long exhale. The fastest documented down-regulation technique science knows. Repeat 3 times. Your heart rate just slowed.

    The Body Scan for Decisions

    Bring a decision to mind. Scan your body. Does your chest/gut OPEN or CLOSE? Open = your body's YES. Tight = your body's NOT YET. Log it. Later, log what happened. Watch your accuracy climb.

    Intuition Hit-Rate Log

    Each time you log a body-read and later log the outcome, we track how often your body was right. Most people start around 55%. With practice, you'll climb toward 80%. This is intuition becoming a measurable skill — not a mystery.

    The 30-Second Stillness

    Before any decision today — any choice at all — pause. Breathe once, fully. Let the answer rise before you force one. Your body already knows. You just have to stop talking over it.

    Name one thing you're carrying that isn't yours. Say out loud: 'That is not mine to carry.' Then write your identity arc: 'I'm no longer the woman who ____. I'm becoming the woman who ____.' Now do ONE thing today purely because YOU want it. Notice the guilt. Do it anyway.

    'Disappoint someone before you abandon yourself.' That's the line. That's the practice. Log your 'yes' each day you choose yourself. Each 'yes' adds gold to your silhouette.

    Identity Arc
